This is an image from a sunrise at Mono, Lake in California. Mono Lake is a terminal lake in a watershed fed from melting runoff with no outlet. Dissolved salts in the runoff thus remain in the lake and raises the salt concentration. The unique formations in the lake are called tufa towers and make the lake very unique to photograph.

Everything is so fresh, funny that when I look at this picture I feel like being brought to a place where I can smell the aroma of vanilla, if you ever smell vanilla, it has that sweet fresh smell that makes you want to dance. I make it my habbit to come here (to your blog) morning and late evening, so I can just look at what God has made and be thankful.
Thank you for sharing your pic, they’re simply gorgeous.

Another great landscape, Gale. This has beautiful light and color. I don’t know if it was or not but it looks cold. I hope to get to Mono Lake and the Bristlecone forest before I get too old!
Amazing! great balance and color
Thanks everyone for your great comments.
Terry, I took this about late Jan. in 07 and it was probobly in the 20′s that morning so pretty cold to us Arkansas guys. I didn’t make it to the bristlecone forest hopefully next trip. They just had a big snow in that area recently.
What an amazing phot. The variety of colors is just breathtaking..
Beautiful photo, Gale!

Thus is my first time here and I have to say that I am highly impressed with your photographs. They are stunningly beautiful. I have bookmarked this page and will be back every day to see what you have to offer. I am sure it will all be great. Now I have to go and look at some more of this.
Wow! I just discovered your blog and website and they are stunning. Your work is inspiring and I will be returning to see what you have next.
Cool reflections!
I have had the great fortune to have traveled to beautifully remote places throughout the Sates, yet am continually surprised to to discover others I was never aware of through your photographs. And these photographs are not only of places of natural beauty, but magical and mystical and breathtaking. They draw me out of the moment and absorb my attention. Quite an achievement on your part from both sides of the lens.
What a glorious photo!!! I love the elements that combine to make this masterpiece.
